Frederick graduated from Northumbria University in 2019 with a Distinction in the Conservation of Fine Art (MA) specialising in Works of Art on Paper. Whilst studying he completed placements at the Ashmolean Museum as well as working on items for National Museums Scotland. After completing his masters study he spent 2 months working on a project at the National Gallery of Afghanistan in Kabul, employed by IFACS, carrying out full interventive conservation and mounting of works damaged by war; as part of this project he was also involved in the running of workshops, teaching Afghan gallery staff conservation techniques and principles.

Frederick worked part time at the Bowes Museum as a Preventive Conservator, developing and implementing pest management policy and procedures which in 2021 enabled the identification of an increase in clothes moth and resulted in a project to deal with the issue

Prior to working in conservation Frederick gained extensive experience in art handling and the installation and storage of works of art, as well as logistics at multiple international auction houses and galleries in London and the North East.
